FAQs for Hen Weekend Parties

Please look at the following frequently asked questions to see if they answer your query. If your question is still unanswered please contact us so that we can answer them directly.

Q. What are the minimum and maximum numbers that you allow for your hen weekends?
A. The minimum number for our hen weekends is fourteen. We may relax this slightly during the winter season. Please ask if this is a problem to see what we can do to accommodate your hen weekend. The maximum number that we can cater for comfortably is eighteen. We can manage twenty but at a push. If your party size is greater than this please contact us as we may be able to recommend another hotel in our area.

Q. If I have less than the minimum number for my hen party, can I still book?
A. Yes we are happy to have less than the minimum for hen parties but they must pay the minimum hire charge for exclusive use of the hotel in high season.

Q. I am still getting the numbers together for my hen weekend - can you reserve the weekend for me in the meantime?
A. Contact us and we will pencil you in and give you first refusal should anyone else show an interest in a hen weekend. We simply ask that you keep us informed of your progress so that we can release the weekend if your plans fall through.

Q. I am ready to go ahead, how do I book my hen weekend house party?
A. You can book your hen party by paying a 25% deposit. The deposit can be paid by cheque made payable to Score Valley Hotel or by card. Unfortunately a small handling charge has to be applied for credit or debit cards.

Q. I know that I will have more than the minimum required and less than the maximum but not sure of the final number, how do I book my hen weekend?
A. We suggest that you base your booking on the minimum required number rather than your expected hen party size.

Q. What happens if I book for eighteen but less turn up for my hen party?
A. As long as you meet the agreed minimum numbers you do not have to pay for the "no shows". If the numbers for your hen weekend fall below the minimum you will be asked to pay for the agreed minimum.

Q. Having paid the deposit when do we pay the hen party balance?
A. The balance for your hen party is requested one month before the weekend. In the case of a late booking we ask for the full amount to be paid as soon as possible.

Q. I want to inform the rest of my party about your hen weekends - do you have any brochures?
A. We rely totally on the Internet for the marketing and promotion of our hen weekends. Most groups pass around our website address as a means of sharing the information.

Q. If I book the hen weekend now and have to cancel what cancellation charges will apply?
A. We try to be as fair as possible. If we are able to relet the weekend to another group your deposit will be refunded in full apart from any administration charges incurred in taking and refunding the deposit. However if we are unable to relet the weekend you will be liable in law for the full amount of the weekend less the costs of any food and wages not incurred by us.

Q. What are the sleeping arrangements in the hotel?
A. Don’t worry, our double rooms are all equipped with zip and link beds so although rooms are shared each member of the hen party will get their own bed.

Q. Some members of our hen party have special dietary requirements - can you cater for these?
A. Yes, we are well used to catering for special dietary requirements and allergies as long as we are informed in advance of your hen party weekend.

Q. Our party want to do some activities during the weekend. How do we find out what hen weekend activities are available and how do we book these?
A. There are many exciting country activities to enjoy at centres close to the hotel. Please click here to find out more about the activities that you can enjoy during your hen weekend. You are advised to contact and book directly with these centres.

Q. Can we bring our own wine or drinks for our hen party?
A. As we have a well stocked bar and extensive wine list we insist that we supply your wine and bar requirements for your hen weekend. If you have any special requirements please let us know in advance.

Q. If we need taxis during our hen weekend can you arrange these for us?
A. Yes we have an arrangement with a local taxi company and will organise taxis for your hen party weekend.

Q. Our party group may be arriving at the hotel at various times on the Friday night. Can you cater for them if some arrive late?
A. Yes we aim to serve the Friday evening meal at an agreed time for the majority of your hen group. We are happy to serve any late arrivals on trays in the bar.

Q. Are there any nightclubs locally that we can go to during our hen weekend?
A. Yes, most of our hen parties visit Whispers Nightclub in Ilfracombe or Marisco’s in Woolacombe and have a great time. There is no problem in our groups getting in and there is a very relaxed dress code.

Q. Not many quality hotels accept bookings for hen weekends, how do you manage?
A. This is true and we are quite unique in two star quality hotels. We are happy to do this on the understanding that we have an agreement with the key organiser as to the behaviour of the hen group and the acceptance of our house rules - see below.

Q. Do you have any house rules regarding behaviour during hen weekends at your hotel?
A. Hen weekend house parties are our main business so we know what to expect and can help make the weekend a success. We do have a few house rules that we ask you to observe, these are :

* Please respect the house and the staff
* If you "chuck up" you clear up
* Any breakages must be paid for
* No alcohol to be brought into the hotel
* If you get lucky at Luckys*, don't bring it back here!
* A good time must be had by all
(*Yes, we know it is now called Whispers!)

Q. Where is the nearest town and what are the pubs like for our hen party?
A. The nearest town is Ilfracombe, which is just over a mile away. There is a large selection of pubs and bars in the High Street and along the harbour.
